Peter has used the phrase “Level 3 course” when speaking about the designer requirements. I think this refers to the level 3 award in historic buildings, which is actually the requirement for assessors in Protected buildings and is not referred to at all in the qualifications for retrofit designers. I am not aware that the level 3 award is adequate for the path B Traditional properties, in our case, our designers attended the CIOB building conservation course, which does not appear to be a level 3 course and then joined the CIOB building conservation scheme, which was what we were advised by John Edwards was required. I am not trying to be nit-picky, I just think that the written response needs to be crystal clear, to avoid any inadvertent nonconformity on behalf of members.
