My interest in building energy performance was sparked when I chose to do a feasibility study of a UK off-grid home as my MSc dissertation. As soon as I started to run the numbers it became clear pretty quickly that the building fabric is the absolute key. I come to retrofit via the DEA route. First training as a DEA, then Retrofit Assessor and most recently Retrofit Coordinator. I find the whole thing really inspiring and I’m dedicated to learning as much as possible. In my work I’m mainly focussed on social housing as I feel that it’s the area that gives me the chance to work at scale and make the most difference. Retrofit in social housing also offers a great opportunity to combat fuel poverty.
